Staying in a Vacation Rental - What's it Really Like? |

Whenever you haven't done anything, you wonder what its like. Its no different when choosing where to stay for the vacation of a lifetime in the Disney, Orlando area. So here's a personal view on a few things to consider... There is such a vast choice of everything in the area and I found it completely bewildering. Personally, I've been going to the Disney Orlando area for over 15 years and I find the choice is still amazing. I used to stay in hotels and motels but I found that they mostly suffered from the same problems. They were noisy. Whether it was the air conditioning, your neighbours, the maid when you wanted to sleep in or just the general 'buzz' of the place, there was always noise. And then I had the opportunity to stay in a Florida vacation rental . I remember it well. In a quiet residential street only a few minutes drive from the Disney attractions. There was soooo much space - you closed the front door and it was truly quiet - just like home. There was no hustle and bustle outside the front door. And then there was the pool! Easily big enough for a family group the pool in my Florida vacation rental was clean and private. I could lie on one of the loungers on the pool deck without having to worry that it was too busy or that someone elses badly-behaved kids would spoil my experience. (Sorry if this sounds selfish and negative but most of us have experienced this). It was a very tranquil experience - a safe environment to watch the kids play and relax too! And no worries about losing them in a crowded public pool! There were 5 bedrooms in our vacation rental - we really only needed 3 but the others were useful as we could dump our shopping in one ready for packing when we had to leave. IA much better solution than waking the whole family when you fall over all the luggage and shopping in your one hotel room! The space in a Florida vacation rental villa is a real luxury. The luxury of your own room, with plenty of toilets and bathroms rather than stumbling over each other in the night to take a trip down the hall. Believe me, I have stayed in some nice hotels in the Disney Orlando area. But seeking space and some peace and quiet comes at a price in those establishments. A suites hotel with a separate bedroom and you're well over $180 an night. In my villa, I was getting 5 bedrooms and my own private pool for only $100 a night. I'd always looked at Florida vacation rentals as 'luxury' and unaffordable. How wrong I was! I could have saved myself a fortune by choosing a Florida villa for my first Disney Orlando vacation - and I would have had a much better time too! I'd never stayed in a hotel that I could wander out onto the pool deck and light up the gas grill to cook dinner! Or just pop back to the kitchen to get a cold drink from the refrigerator. The best the average hotel can do is provide a noisy machine at the end of the corridor that stocks everything but your favorite drink and then wants you to pay an inflated price for the privilege! Give me a Florida vacation rental villa any time. Space, peace, quiet and privacy allow my family and me to relax and recharge, ready for another hard day in the parks or perhaps and even harder day following my wife around spending what we save by renting a Florida villa!
